Driving In Europe

by ·

in DFDS Seaways

Europe is a massive continent and has a lot to explore.  There are a whole number of countries that all vary massively in their language, their cultures, their scenery and their practices and therefore getting around Europe really can show you a massive range of diversity, not to mention being incredibly fun!

The great thing about Europe is that you can easily drive around it without the need for costly flights.  Driving in Europe is a great way to get around a large number of countries and seeing everything that it has to offer.  Thanks to the fact that most of the European countries neighbour each other by land, it means that you can get a ferry from Dover over to France with your car and then you can drive pretty much anywhere you want, from Germany, to France, to Portugal and even further afield such as Romania and Bulgaria.

You can either take your own car on to a ferry and travel to Calais or Dunkirk, or instead you can travel across as foot passengers and hire a car when you arrive.  Just make sure that if you are hiring a car that you make sure that you are allowed to take the car through to other countries at that you are also insured to do so.

Driving in Europe gives you a lot of flexibility to get around wherever you want and to visit countries, cities and small towns as and when you feel like it.  If you fancy a day by the sea then you have the option to travel to a seaside town, alternatively, if you feel like taking in the museums and history then visiting a large city or capital is always a great option.
